Wamn! A player just kicked the ball into the goal, Some think competitive sports are bad while others think it’s good. It’s clear that overall competitive sports is a hot topic. It’s clear that the negative overlooks the positive because of 3 main reasons concussions, injuries, and mental reasons. First off sports can cause concussions, nearly 300,000 concussions occur a year.
Concussions in sports are extremely common, especially in high contact sports like football and lacrosse where helmet to helmet contact is very high. Although helmet technology has drastically improved as there has been more concussion awareness the past decade, concussions are still one of the top injuries. A smart helmet that contains an electromagnetic field to repel helmet to helmet contact would significantly decrease the amount of head and neck trauma. The helmets will utilize opposite magnetic fields to ensure that when the helmets do get close together they will be repelled from each other. These smart helmets will contain the technology to determine the acceleration of the two people and determine the right amount of repel to expel
However, it is also important to note that a concussion can also take place outside of sports, meaning it can happen to anybody. For instance, there have been incidents where a person tripped while running, fell, and the impact of their head’s contact with the ground caused a concussion. Or, in a car accident many front-seat passengers, or even the driver, have slammed their heads against the dashboard/steering wheel, also possibly resulting in a concussion. Concussions when treated can be healed in a timely manner. Unfortunately, throughout history, there has been a tendency for people to overlook a concussion as a serious injury, therefore, making it more problematic than it already is.
As a result to raise awareness about concussions, the National College Player Association was developed in 2001 as nonprofit organization, to minimize the risks of college athletes receiving brain trauma and keep them in good standing until they are finished playing their respective sports. The program allows for college athletes to voice their concerns and opinions in accordance with NCAA rules. It was launched by a group of UCLA football players to serve as a support system for all college athletes across the nation and is the only organization that serves an independent voice for them. More importantly, the NCPA Players Council developed the Concussion Awareness and Reduction Emergency (CARE) Plan for college athletes. The CARE Plan includes
Ken Stabler and Earl Morrall, were latest of dozens of players to have found to have had a degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head hits. Should sports leagues do more to prevent concussions and other sports injuries, yes they should. Less practices means less chances of injury. Head-to-head contact carries a greater risk of concussion in football than head-to-ground contact. There is risk in life.
Concussions are an increasingly hot topic in sports. No sport is immune to concussion. Though certain sports have higher risks of head trauma, all athletes are put at a risk. Although sports can be enjoyable, stress relieving, competitive, and a way of staying physically fit, awareness for the injury has soared over the years. Being the MVP of an all star sports team is a breathtaking title that only all players of adroitness can dream of.
Athletes should sit out a little longer than usual after suffering a concussion. Head. Injuries can be a life treating injury. They should sit out longer so they don 't suffer the syndromes of post- concussion. Sitting out longer could cause a players brain to recover fully without any lasting damages.
Sports have been around for a long time and so have these diseases that can end your life or complicate them. Rules are being more inforced as of now due to serious brain disease that cause death to those who suffer concussions on the field. The sports industry tried changing rules to the games to prevent certain disease such as ALS and CTE but changing the rules can come out to worse results as in fracturing other body parts that can cause the player to stop playing for some time or even forever which can cause an end to their careers. Changing certain rules may prevent certain conflicts but can start other conflicts which can be more risky for the athlete. For instance head trauma is a very talked topic coming from sports i don't believe
In 2014 the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge swept the nation and children, teens, and adults of all ages were participating in what seemed like a fun activity to support a cause no one knew about. ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a neurodegenerative brain disease that affects the motor skills in a person. ALS is most commonly seen athletes due to multiple hits to the head and concussions. ALS, CTEs, and concussions are being more and more recognized as result of athletes being diagnosed with these diseases and in many cases, dying. However, sports organizations should be doing more to educate parents, athletes, and coaches about the dangers of head trauma and ways it can be prevented as well as improving equipment used by athletes..
Over 2 million children suffer concussions in sports every year. Many of these concussions go untreated and without proper treatment, these concussions can lead to serious health problems. Concussions are important because if they aren’t identified and treated it can lead to complications in an athlete’s life down the road, things like CTE can affect their mood and decisions later in life, possibly leading them to make choices they wouldn’t normally make like blowing their money, doing drugs, alcoholism and even committing suicide. People should be doing more to prevent and treat concussions in sports, specifically in football. Although people say that concussions are too hard to track and that the science is too new to rely on, symptoms of a concussion can be
THE INCREASING NUMBER OF CONCUSSION IN ATHLETES ARE DETRIMENTAL TO THE FUTURE OF SPORTS In the recent years, concussions have become a common accident related to various types of sports around the globe. A concussion is a traumatic injury of the brain, they can also be as a result of a sudden blow on the body. Such a blow may cause the head to jerk back and forth in a rapid motion. This may cause a bounce or twist within the skull, which may over stretch the brain, cause cell damage and alter chemical functioning within the brain.
Protective head gear is often worn by plays who have gotten a concussion before and they wear it in games for safety reason, but there is no reason why someone who has not gotten a concussion before cannot wear protective head gear to prevent themselves from getting a concussion. Head gear provides padding around the forehead of the player where they are supposed to head the ball. Actually, damaging head injuries like concussion come from a hard surface hitting anywhere on the head, like as two players going for the same ball in the air. When the two player’s heads collide, one or both might get a concussion, but the contact area is usually not where the player would head the ball. A lot of head injuries happen when an elbow hits the opponent on the side of their head.
The only reason why people wear headgear because if you had a soccer game and it went bad because you had a concussion and the next time you have a game than you think that you’re going to get hurt and then they hesitate and get worried. there’s no need to wear a headgear when it causes you to much trouble. Concussion and repeated heading are two separate entities. People think it’s the same place.
