Like mentioned in this essay prompt, conflict is inevitable. To have conflict is to have a threatening problem with yourself, another person, nature, machine, society, or fate causing you to react upon this conflict in a chosen way. There are just as many or more ways that a person can act upon a conflict than actually have a conflict. For example, if two girls are having a fight with each other, then they can either get mad, sad, defensive, nervous, protective or even scared about the conflict that they are experiencing with each other. A person’s response to conflict can have a positive or negative effect on themselves or even the people around them.

An example of conflicts affecting people other than yourself, would be in Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, the main character, Okonkwo is experiencing anger towards the Missionaries that have come to Umuofia to tell the villagers about their god. Okonkwo acts upon this conflict with extreme anger, causing some of the people in the village to also act the same. This anger is not even close to the anger that he experienced when his son, Nwoye, is caught with the missionaries learning about this new god. When Okonkwo first heard this news, he called upon Nwoye to ask him where he had been. When Nwoye told Okonkwo about his whereabouts, Okonkwo was so furious that he wen so far as to beat Nwoye and disown his son. If I was Nwoye in this situation, I would be very …show more content…

In this book, Romeo and Juliet’s parents forbade their children from falling in love and getting married. This reaction caused Romeo and Juliet to do many things but they are most famously known for Romeo drinking poison and Juliet stabbing herself in the heart to end both of their lives so that they could be together forever. In my opinion, this book is one of the most famous examples of conflict and others reactions causing more people to have the same or worse
