According to dictionary.reference.com (2015), conflict of interest is defined in two parts as "the circumstance of a public officeholder, business executive, or the like, whose personal interests might benefit from his or her official actions or influence" or "the circumstance of a person who finds that one of his or her activities, interests, etc., can be advanced only at the expense of another". Conflict of interest can be occur during purchasing and other business relationships, employment, research, activities of family members and so on. This is because Brian begins to support Anna's decision to obtain medical emancipation from her parents. This gives a rise to a cold war among the entire family members, mainly between Anna's parents. She loves her children but seems to pay more attention to Kate's needs due to her medical condition. So, Sara very hard to accept when she lose the support of her husband especially it could potentially cause the death of her daughter, Kate. Therefore, she begins to turn against her husband as well.
