The story walks the readers through Triple E’s recent conflicts, the main event being how him and Jeanne got stuck in the blizzard. That was the main journey for Triple E, where he couldn’t rebel or he and the love of his life, would die. He had to fight for survival. Triple E was forced to deal with things that he regretted and/or he had bottled up inside. Close to death experiences and experiences where a person is geographically lost can help a sense of direction in a persons personal life. A person can reevaluate themselves. When Triple E headed out in the blizzard to find help is when the readers hear about his situation at Goodpasture. Tozer provided an outlet for Triple E, he was a boxer and coached Triple E to be one as well. Mrs. B and Tozer only had two things in common, structure and the fact that they both wanted to cure Triple E for personal reasons, not just for Triple E. It would satisfy both of them to have been successful at taming the incorrigible teen. Tozer taught Triple E discipline and patience, he created focus for Triple E but it was still violence. Triple E didn’t need anymore violence in his life and Mrs. B felt protective and like her strategy would be more helpful. Tozer was rough around the edges but did provide Triple E will positive reinforcment, he was still a bit harsh at times and wasn’t always forgiving with his words, he would say things like Triple E hadn’t learned anything. Tozer was less peaceful and supportive than Mrs. B but it’s hard to like something that you’re naturally good at. Triple E was naturally a good fighter, that’s what he did, he fought. Tozer would praise Triple E when he won the fights and would also make Triple E feel like he was his special boy. Triple E was pressured to make a decision between fighting and staying with Mrs.
