The author of Eleanor and Park is Rainbow Rowell. She lives in Omaha, Nebraska with her husband and two sons. Rainbow has written many other books in her career. Eleanor and Park almost became a movie, but she regained the rights from DreamWorks for some reason that she didn’t state. I can’t find if she has any college degrees or anything like that. She is 44 years old which makes her 13 when the book takes place. Her being 13 makes her aware of what it was like in the 1980’s which gives her a valid opinion in her book. The main ones are man vs. man and man vs. herself. For man vs. man, Eleanor has always hated her drunken step dad and her step dad has always hated her. He is abusive towards her and her mom. He has kicked her out before. She tries to stay clear of him as much as possible. She is constantly worried about her and her family throughout the book and also has many nasty confrontations with him. She ends up moving to her uncle’s house in St. Paul, Minnesota to get away from him. After her mother finds out where she has gone, she and the rest of the kids end up leaving the stepdad and goes up north too. The other conflict is man vs. herself because she lacks self confidence and is scared all the time of others and what might happen. It is a constant barrier in her life and Park and her relationship throughout the book. She meets this boy, Park, on the bus and they exchange comic books and music between each other but never talk. Until one day Park asked her if she liked the music and she agrees so they start talking about everything only to find out they have a lot in common with each other. After awhile Park realizes that he is starting to like like Eleanor and Eleanor is starting to like like Park. Park makes a move so it clarifies that Park likes Eleanor so Eleanor starts going over to his house. They spend a lot of time together and fall deep in love. During the end of the school year Eleanor’s home life gets really bad and her uncle has just offered to let her stay at his house for the summer up in St. Paul, MInnesota. She decides that she wants to go early so she convinces Park to drive her up there. Once they get there it is a sad time as Park has to let Eleanor go. They promise to write so Park writes to her everyday. She gets all the letters but can’t bring herself to open them. After six months of Park writing with no response, he quits. A little bit after he quits, Eleanor send him a postcard with three words on it. We get to decide what the three words
