In the Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a group of children land on a deserted island, where they are thrown into a life without society’s regulations. Throughout the story, the boys work together, and make progress on surviving, however, as the conformity within the group breaks, so do the boys, eventually causing chaos as they are all split up and work on their own. Conformity is beneficial to society and its individuals, if done right, because if the individuals work as a team and properly communicate with each other, communities would thrive. The boys on the island were able to get more done when working together, and actually completing work, due to how they had set conformity/order to keep themselves in a civilized manner. …show more content…

Ralph is upset because of how everyone isn’t following the rules, and regulations, doing whatever they want, leading to no progress in helping the boys’ survival on the island. “Everyone had built the shelters. Ralph had to wave the conch once more. Wait a minute. I mean, who built all three? We all built the first one, four of us built the second one, and me ‘n Simon built the last one over there. That’s why it’s so tottery. No. Don’t laugh. That shelter might fall down if the rain comes back. We’ll need those shelters then.” (William Golding, 80). When the boys had stayed along the rules, done their job, and worked along the rules, their little society had started to
