There were three different answers to the problem of disorder in classical China. The Legalist, the Confucian, and the Daoist. The Legalist solution, while not the first, to disorder was through harsh punishment and bountiful reward for breaking or following and upholding laws. The Confucian solution to disorder was that humans society was filled with superior to inferior relationships, and if those superior acted with benevolence, sincerity, and general concern for welfare, than social harmony could be regained. And the Daoist solution was almost counter intuitive to the Confucian solution because of the idea that people should behave spontaneous and individualistic, and natural to human nature. All three of these beliefs then were incorporated in Christianity and Islam later, as well as incorporating the idea of a heaven and a hell that the deceased went to. Islam and Christianity also adopted the jewish idea of people actively being out to communicate with their God. Unlike the mesopotamian religion, the Jews were monotheistic for a god known as Yahweh. In return for their sole devotion and obedience to Yahweh, he would consider the Jews as his chosen people. Unlike the Mesopotamian gods, Yahweh was seen as lofty, transcendent, a deity of utter holiness and purity set far above the word he created. Yahweh was a divine person whom people could actively communicate with. Some distinctive features of the Greek intellectual tradition teaches finding the answers to questions, it also teaches how questions are asked and how they get answered. This tradition focuses more about logic, reasoning, and argumentation over divine belief and faith. The Intellectual tradition seeks to challenge old wisdom and conventional thinking strategies.
