Brave New World is a book written by Aldous Huxley, and is about the future after a war called “The Nine Years War”. The book is considered to be a dystopia and it follows the few who are different from the pack. One of the main characters named “John” aka “Savage” was born on the indian reservation and has lived there his entire life. John soon visits the city due to certain circumstances in the story finds that the city or this “Brave New World” is nothing as he visualized it would be from his reading of shakespeare. The difference of both “worlds” is heartbreaking and traumatizing to john. There is no love or feeling in anyone. And many look the same and are called the same. Both societies have an important role. Do your part. If you don’t do your part, there could be or will be consequences. Though they both may have consequences, the consequences are far from each other. The World State has Castes. Your only important to your caste and to do your part in that caste. If you don’t and ask questions are act apart, you will be exiled from the World State. These actions include love, asking questions, thinking creatively, not doing your job, or not sharing your body with everyone you come across. The two cultures could not be more different. For example in pg. 7, “ninety six embryos”. This part of the book it shows how all castes are from one egg so each caste looks identical and wear the same color. There are 5 castes, and they all are made in laboratory. All take soma to create “happiness”. But in reality soma kills all emotions. On the reservation, they aren’t told or forced to drink alcohol to be happy, they all do because they are addicted. But on the reservation they still are free to believe in god, while in the World State they are told to believe in Ford. They don’t have the slightest idea of the past. They almost act like robots, live in the present and do what they are told. The world state doesn’t consist if any mothers or fathers but the reservation does.
