Constantine was a Roman Emperor who ruled over the roman empire. Constantine had a vision one day that Christianity should be legalized and he acted on it. Constantine eventually ended the persecution of Christians and legalized Christianity in the roman empire and embraced it with open arms. Christianity then became the official religion for the roman empire. Constantine was motivated by concerns expressed by Jesus said in the Gospel according to Matthew. The roman empire accepted Christianity because Constantine is there ruler but they didn’t know that Christianity will influence their culture, change the way they acted, and the way they thought.

It teaches one to be giving to the poor and to pray to him and the golden rule. The teaching from the gospel challenges the views of others to make them stop being selfish and to give back. In the concept of giving back to the poor a person will have to pray to the Lord because he knows what everyone needs and when they need it. It also explains to many that murder is against the law and you can go to court. Even anger or saying a word such as “good for nothing” will make one guilty of going to court. By saying “you fool” shall be guilty enough to into the fiery of hell. The Lord tells one to not be mad at one another instead reconcile your differences and to not have enemies, instead solve your problems. He states if someone asks of you, do so and do not tune away when someone needs something. An eye for an eye, and tooth for a tooth means if someone does something wrong, the person should be punished by having the same thing done to them. The Lord tells one not to live by this moto and do not resist an evil person. Whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. The Lord also tells everyone to love our enemies and to pray for them. He states if we only love our brothers and sisters are we really being better than those who are evil.
