Is your hard work really worth your life? If you’re curious you should probably hear the story of
“Content of the Dead Man’s pocket”. The story is written by Jack Finney, it was originally published in the magazine’s Good Housekeeping and Collier’s in 1956. Though it wasn’t famous as some of his other stories the concert still exhibits the authors concerns with time and the struggle to escape from its grip.

The story was also trying to show that life is short and you should not focus all your time and energy into one specific task that at the end of your life is basically meaningless, for example Tom had spent two months working on his project and when he thought she was going to die he realized that he wasted two months of his life doing something that in the end is meaningless, when he could’ve been doing anything else, which probably would’ve had more meaning. “Nothing, then, could ever be changed; and nothing more... Could ever be added to his life. He wished, then, that he had not allow his wife to go off by herself tonight – – and on similar lights he thought of all the evenings he had spent away from here, working; and he regretted them.”
