Tejano Religion and Ethnicity, by Matovina timothy M., is a historic book that presents intensive research of the complex mesh of ethnic, religious, and political devotion in the development of the identity of Tejanos (Texas residents of Spanish) in the first decades of their interaction with Anglos in San Antonio. It was the first major Mexican population to be absorbed into the expanding Anglo-American empire. In 1821, San Antonio was a Mexican Catholic town of Mexico. In the same year, Mexico had just gained its independence from Spain. But the Tejanos in Texas gradually started to lose ground to the Anglo foreigners who were allowed to immigrate into their country.
Vidal is a 13 year old, Hispanic male, from Guatemala. Vidal arrived at Leake and Watts on 08/11/2017 after being detained by Immigration Costume Enforcement (ICE) in Texas together with his alleged father Cristian Alvarado Alvarado. Both were separated during the time of apprehension. Vidal traveled from Guatemala to the United States illegally with his alleged father and a different identification due to extreme poverty and the lack of educational opportunities in Guatemala. Due to continuous assessment with Vidal, he disclosed the idea of journeying to the USA come from Cristian Alvarado Alvarado and Berta Maribel Funes both related to the family.
1.a There are many ways which my childhood was different when compared to a Yucatec Maya childhood. In the first example, the children enjoyed working around the house and would ask for more responsibilities to show their competence in doing work. Growing up, I would do all that I could so I wouldn’t have to do chores and I would never have asked for more work. I would do the least amount of chores that I could while staying out of trouble while the Yucatec children would do as much housework as their parents let them. Even when I did do chores, I didn’t want to and didn’t enjoy doing them.
America and Guatemala are very different cultures; sometimes these cultures can be viewed in a poor light or it can be viewed in an interesting light, but I think these differences are very interesting and nice. One big difference that can be seen is that America loves upgrading technology and making technology to make life easier. In Guatemala, it is not like that. Guatemala does have some technology like smart phones and new types of cars, but if something is fine how it is, it is not upgraded and not much technology is made that would supposedly make their lives easier.

In the Western Hemisphere, no early civilization was more remarkable than the Maya. The Maya are the best-known classical civilizations of Mesoamerica, originating in the state in southeastern Mexico, Yucatan at around 2000 B.C. They rose to importance around A.D. 250 in present-day southern Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and northern Belize. The Maya civilization was a Mesoamerican civilization developed by the Maya peoples. As being the most remarkable civilization in the Western Hemisphere, the Maya produced an extensive range of structures, and have left a great architectural legacy that places the Maya civilization as one of the great preindustrial civilizations of the world.
Although In more developed cities, the citizens forgo these traditional wear for a more western style. Not only are our clothing very expressive, so is our food and taste. ▸ The Food: Guatemalan food has to be one of my favorite foods ever. My mom’s cooking is the best. Many Traditional Guatemalan foods are based on Mayan Cuisine, which features ingredients like corn, chilies, and beans.

Guatemala is located in Central America and was once heavily populated with the Mayan population. Ever since the Spaniards took over the land that the Mayans called theirs, the Mayans became enslaved in their home country and have been struggling to regain power ever since. For many years the people of Guatemala have been poorly treated and have been constantly fighting to keep their land against the government. Guatemala has been at civil war for a very long time due to economic and political inequalities which in turn lead to the Mayans protesting against the governments that were causing damage to their land. Although the Mayans believed that these protests would solve the issues that they were facing but in reality the government just invested
I come from a Mexican family who is low context and very conservative. They value having relationships within their own race. When I came to the United States, I learned to appreciate other cultures and ethnicities better. I have never seen race the way my family looks at it. If they marry someone, it would have to be within the culture.
The Culture of Colombia and the Colombian People Culture is defined as the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization. This definition of culture is very true in the country of Colombia. In this paper, I will be going over the three major topics that I believe to be the most important about the Colombian culture: religion, language, and food and customs. In the 16th Century, Spain became one of the European forces to reckon with. To expand even further globally, Spanish conquistadors were sent abroad to discover lands, riches, and North America and its civilizations. When the Spanish and Native American groups met one another, they judged each other, as they were both unfamiliar with the people that stood before them. The Native American and Spanish views and opinions of one another are more similar than different because when meeting and getting to know each other, neither the Spaniards nor the Native Americans saw the other group of people as human. Both groups of people thought of one another as barbaric monsters and were confused and amazed by each other’s cultures.
I’m the first generation of my family to be Mexican -American, but I have been introduced to the Mexican culture since I was born. I appreciate the difficulties my parents have faced to make me the person that I am today even though I wasn’t born in Mexico my parents have taught me the language and the culture which I’m so proud of being part of. For others being Hispanic is actually being born in any Latin American countries which is not true at all. Being Hispanic is much more than my cultural background it actually describes how much I appreciate my culture and how I get to experience things other people don’t. I fit into the Hispanic community through the experiencing the culture first hand ,participating in traditions and planning to include my culture in my future.

Mean Girls I jumped out from my bed at 6:30 when my alarm turned off. I got dressed and went downstairs for breakfast. My mom was drinking her coffee in her favorite red mug with my picture on it.
