I strongly believe there should be a resolution in Congress to create a national monument for the pioneers who moved to the West in the 1850s and 1860s. This is very important to me because I believe everybody who is a fighter deserves to be recognized. Such as the pioneers, who went through so much and took many risks they deserve to be remembered. A national monument would honor the pioneers who made it and the ones that risked everything. Throughout the 1850s and 1860s, there were people who traveled to the West for various reasons. These people were called pioneers. They could have been on the search for gold, or couldn’t maintain themselves where they lived. There were other reasons too. Anyway, these pioneers had to travel in a difficult and dangerous way. It took months to travel to their destination. They’d travel in their wagons. Many pioneers lost their lives trying to come to a new place in search of a better life. The ones that did make it had to suffer for months. They traveled by foot and had their things with them too. Some didn’t get much luck and did starve while others did get luck or were well prepared for a long time. Some of them also didn’t get to stay in hotels and indoor places and had to suffer with their sleeping conditions. In the other hand, some got help. So, in my opinion I believe that after all the suffering pioneers went through they should be remembered for their courage. With a national monument dedicated to them, people would know what they went through and admire their
