We Don’t Care by Kanye West is a controversial song that brings attention to the systemic issues of drug addiction and distribution, lack of opportunities, and poverty that are usually ignored. He believes that these issues do not stem from the people in the communities, but rather the systems themselves. His main goal is to provide the knowledge to fix these issues, and to better the communities so that no one else has to endure the same hardships. He wants no one else to go through what he went through, so he is attempting to fix the issues by bringing awareness.

The people are struggling with poverty because they don’t have the privilege of opportunities to become successful, so they have no choice but to make money how they know they can in their community. “Drug dealin' just to get by, stackin' money 'til it get sky high, we wasn't supposed to make it past twenty-five, joke's on you, we still alive'' This quote proves that Kanye believes that drug dealing is the only means that some people have to make enough money to survive, and that they weren’t expected to survive in the first place. When a community doesn’t have opportunities for education and other good paths to success, it is very hard to make it in life without committing crimes. “The drug game bulimic, it's hard to get weight, so nigga's money is homo, it's hard to get straight” This quote is a metaphor for homosexuality, as when a person is drug dealing, they can almost never stop, because it is extremely difficult to make money legitimately. Also, someone who is homosexual will never become
