Controversy: The Cause Of Zombie-Based Violence

People have different opinions on issues every day which can cause controversy, a disagreement or heated conflict over opposing ideas. These issues can lead to controversy in everyday life and zombie based violence is one of these examples. Zombie based violence has many different ways that an apocalypse could happen. One way is with a deadly virus that infects human beings causing them to transform into a flesh eating monster. Although zombies are just a myth people still believe a zombie apocalypse will arise, zombies create fear in humans because of the different methods an outbreak can occur.

In the Resident Evil movies the T-virus is made in a laboratory called the Hive. When employees wanted to expose what the Hive was doing with the virus, a worker for the Umbrella Corporation releases the virus. The Umbrella Corporation lets the T-virus spread throughout the city which later ends up spreading across the world (Resident). This creates controversy because the fact that the government let the virus escape shows a harsh reality to the viewers over rather the zombie apocalypse would be a cause of a virus created by the government. In "Zombies in America and at Qumran: AMC's The Walking Dead, The Dead Sea Scrolls, and Apocalyptic Redux" by Kipp Davis, an academic writer, writes “…common theme in the zombie apocalyptic myth, … the persistent danger of infection” and “… human civilization… are obliterated in the wake of a terrible disease that turns ordinary humans into mindless, automatonic, flesh-eating monsters” (149-55). Davis shows viewers that in zombie related films, infection is the most common
