Coping mechanisms are tools that aid people while grieving. However, numerous coping mechanisms are toxic or harmful. In Night by Elie Wiesel, the Jews engage in various destructive coping mechanisms. In comparison, I employ a multitude of coping mechanisms during stressful situations. Isolation and creative outlets, the two coping mechanisms I utilize most, help me calm down and focus on the task. By isolating myself, I cope with grief and stress. When I isolate myself, I eliminate distractions. By eliminating outside distractions, I can focus on the stressful situation. Even though being alone during difficult times can cause added stress, I struggle with asking for help, which leads to me dealing with my problems alone (adjective clause).
