As I pursue my future career, I strongly intend to practice corporate law as my established occupation. Therefore, I strive to vividly comprehend the field of corporate law as well as explore my pursuit in becoming a successful corporate attorney. Firstly, an aspiring corporate lawyer must earn a four-year bachelor’s degree; the bachelor’s degree would be most beneficial if pertaining to business or law but not required to relate to these areas (Malone). Next, the corporate lawyer must pass the Law School Admission Test, which allows the future attorney to attend law school. Upon passing this test, the corporate lawyer must attend law school for three years in order to receive a Juris Doctor Degree, specifically from a law school certified by the American Bar Association (Study). Finally, after graduation, corporate attorneys need to pass the bar tests for an official license, and may also continue their education through training programs or other courses (collegemouse) (lawyeredu). Therefore, based on these requirements and not including any future or extra education, corporate law requires seven years of education, four years for the undergraduate degree and three years for the Juris Doctor Degree. In order to accurately calculate the cost of this seven-year education, I researched the tuition of a university and law school that intrigues me, College of Charleston. At the university, the yearly cost for in state students amounts to $22,520, so four years would consequently total $90,080 (College of Charleston). Then, the College of Charleston Law School costs $19,998 per semester, resulting in $119,988 in total (Charleston School of Law) . All things considered, a corporate lawyer’s education from the College of Charleston would cost $210,068. While specific numbers differ among various universities and law schools, this cost portrays the immense amount of money required for this field, even with an in state tuition for the undergraduate degree.
