I recently arrived from a trip many would dream of. I was asked to be part of the Corps of Discovery that was chosen to travel on a fact finding mission that was to be in May 1804. President Thomas Jefferson has asked for Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, and the Corps Of Discovery to create a NorthWest passage from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. President Jefferson had three goals for this trip. The first was to find a water route from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. The second was to establish good relations with Native Americans and tell them that the land now was ran by the United States government. I looked up to Lewis a lot in challenges. Lewis was a skilled writer but made some spelling errors. He was a great leader and is strong. He showed these skills in situations like in February, 1804, when Colter and a few others disobeyed duties and Lewis confined them to the camp. He also showed his strength when on May 23, 1804, he had climbed Tavern Cave and slipped and fell but was able to catch himself with the help of his knife. Lewis contributed many things to this expedition like weapons and an iron-framed boat. Lewis was very loyal and he showed this by not getting mad when Pierre had accidentally shot him in the leg while we were hunting. Lewis was very skilled in many things and the Corp and I are thankful for him being on this trip. William Clark was also very important in this trap as to where we would of gotten all the maps of the land. Clark was very skilled at map-making. Clark was very friendly and that was good because we could all get along. Clark had formed a good friendship with Nez Perce and I. Clark was also very devoted toward things like this and his devotion helped us greatly to keep going. He was very trustworthy and that is a great trait to possess. Clark also contributed many things toward the expedition such as maps. Lewis and Clark had many different skills but when combined it made everything
