Gatsby failed in his dream. Gatsby is a man who went from rags to riches and achieved immense wealth. Despite this, he's never satisfied with where he is. He's always wishing for more than what he has. Even though he has everything, it's not enough. Therefore, this is why he's a representation of the failed American dream. Gatsby never had any real happiness. He's a wealthy man who lives a life filled with luxuries, but he'll never be accepted because of how he came to be. Because at the end of the day, he's still considered new money. The media and the public become fascinated with him and his life. Yet soon tarnishes his reputation and name by turning him into a cheating killer. Although he threw parties with many guests of different kinds, he had no friends. He's pining for a woman he's loved for many years, promising to offer everything she could ever want, but it is still not enough for her.
