Lea Michele has been in show business since the age of nine. Ever since this age, she has been crafting her professionalism, her dedication, her poise, and her class. She has been recognized by many peers, directors, and interviewers for these characteristics. The thing I admire most about Lea Michele is her strength. In times of crisis and adversity she has risen. Not only has she risen, but she has overcome these adversities in the public eye.
Lea’s beginning on the stage was abrupt, and accidental. She landed the role of young Cosette on broadway at the age of 9, but she wasn’t even planning on auditioning. On the show, Lea Michele’s character, Rachel Berry, had an on-screen romance with a character named Finn Hudson. This character was played by actor Cory Monteith. The two actors began a real life romance while working on the television show together. Their relationship became very serious and was often speculated by the paparazzi. Cory Monteith passed away in the summer of 2013, just after the end of Glee’s fourth season. He died of a heroin overdose, and he and Lea were still in a relationship at this time. Cory had struggled with drug abuse his entire adult life, but had gotten out of a rehab facility just months before his overdose. Cory’s death took a large emotional toll on Lea Michele. Filming of the 5th season of Glee was slightly postponed, and Lea did not make any public appearances for the next month. At the end of summer 2013, Lea made her first statement about Cory at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. Her speech was through heavy crying, but she kept her composure enough to say thoughtful words about her love and loss of Cory.
Post the award show, Lea only discussed Cory’s death few times publically. She gave interviews with talk show hosts such as Ellen Degeneres and Jimmy Kimmel, but she soon threw herself back into her work. Lea Michele had went back to filming Glee, and back to her work on her solo projects. These projects included and album and a book that she had started before Cory’s death.
