On September 22, 2013, my friends and I went to see the Cosi fan Tutte, in Houston, Texas at the Houston Grand Opera House. The opera began at seven in evening till around ten forty five at night. The opera was performed by Elizabeth Futral, Uliana Alexyuk, Jason Grae, Joseph Kaiser, Liam Bonner, and Dannielle DuBose. The orchestra that performed was by The Houston Grand Opera Orchestra and Chorus. This opera retained its originality by the incorporation of authentic performance by the performers and usage of the instruments that were used originally used for the play when it was written. Luckily those instruments exist today and are still highly regarded in an orchestra. The standard group of four sections, strings woodwinds, brass, and percussion was seen in front of the stage. The entire atmosphere of the performance was mesmerizing from the musical textures and varieties of different tones, syncopations, and changes. After much research and listening and recalling I recall having two favorite pieces in this opera. The Una donna, and the finale Ah, Signor, Son Rea Di Morte. I want to discuss about the Una donna as this is my most favorite out of the both. This piece of the opera was an aria, Despina ( one of the sisters in the opera)was the soloist. This opera was made during the classical period which was known for its music to have a tendency of having unexpected pauses, syncopations, and frequent changes from shorter notes to longer notes. This piece is very much balanced and is very addictive…. i found myself humming to it all night after i remembered
