The company began in 1961 with only 30 acres, with the intent to grow vine ripe tomatoes in the winter and Calamondin citrus in the summer. Just a few years later the future world leader transformed the business, and started producing houseplants. 56 years later and Costa Farms is a leader in the industry, which has global operations that expand as far as China. Costa Farms has been a leader in the ornamental horticulture industry by innovating an introducing new house plants such as the Canela tree and Cecelia Aglaonema.
