The production of cotton increased in the 1800s through the higher demand of cotton and the increase of slaves and land to meet that demand. During the 1800s, white settlers pushed Natives further west to use resources such as land to increase the production of cotton.
With the boom of the textile industry in the 1800s, the demand of cotton increased as a result. The textile industry is the making of clothing, with the main material being cotton. By 1860, cotton made 192 million dollars in exports, which is nearly half of all exports in the U.S. Americans focused on cotton as a big profit, making them millions. From 1850-1860, the amount of cotton bales produced increased by 5,146.2%. The textile industry increased the demand of cotton for
