As a prospective counselor I would aim to create an impact on the lives of those we help. As a child I always aspired to be a counselor of some sort after I had gone through multiple sessions of counseling. Having experience with both physical and emotional therapy and counseling, I have grown to have appreciation for it. Similarly, having worked in academic counseling in my undergrad years has shown me how much of an impact counselors make. By working there, I had firsthand experience in organizing workshops and getting to know the functions of counseling. Working daily with the counselors gave me an inside view of what the job entailed as well as picking up on valuable information. Such as learning how to ask students what they needed, whether they need to see a counselor, and how to diagnose what type of assistance they may require. …show more content…

When it comes to Organization, I find it to be a strength as I incorporate it into everything. Through organizing my workload or that of others I stay focused and on top of the task at hand. This helps me conduct the best options, solutions, and resources. Similarly, it also helps save valuable time on my end as well as the time of others. Equivalently, communication is something I find extremely important in everyday life as well. Whether it be through regular conversation or presenting, I like to think I have a way with words. I find it to be an important aspect of my life as it helps me convey my message. However, when it comes to communicating via writing, text, emails you name it I tend to struggle with spelling and grammar. It has always been a weakness of mine, however since staring my journey in higher education I have improved but not enough. I believe through joining this program it will push me to reach that level of communication I tend to avoid and overthink on. As I would have to sharpen my skills for when I assist
