Did you know there are currently about 13,600 community animal shelters nationwide? Did you also know that approximately 7.6 million animals enter shelters every year? Without the help of animal shelters millions of dogs and cats would be abused, abandoned, and left to die. This is why the County Animal Shelter is the most important local office. The selfless devotion of shelters enables unwanted animals to find homes, reunites lost animals with their human families, rehabilitates dangerous breeds and creates a safer environment for both animal and citizen. With the help of local animal shelters 2.7 million unwanted animals find homes each year. 35% of shelter dogs and 37% of shelter cats find loving homes. Before joining their new families, the animals receive medical care, immunizations, and are either spayed or neutered. There for when a shelter animal leaves the facility it not only leaves with a loving family (facilitated by the shelter) but also a clean bill of health (again, facilitated by the shelter). Dogs that are lucky enough to survive sustain critical injuries such as broken bones, punctures and lacerations. Normally dog fighters use the breed Pit Bull Terrier.
