The love for his country is exemplified by the way fulfilled his duties with total dedication, and competence. Other characters that sets Louie apart is his optimism , courage,and fearlessness as a warrior. Throughout the entire story, Louie knew he could get away with anything(He felt invincible) The book describes the true story of the overwhelming odds ,and terror of war that Louie must face with his fellow soldiers Mac, and Phil.
Pain, both physical and mental, affects every character in The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. However, the biggest loss, which is that of the Price family’s youngest child, Ruth May’s, life also brings about some positive effects as well. Here, similarly to in Twelfth Night, a person is sacrificed for the greater good. Naturally, it may be more difficult to imagine the benefit of Ruth May’s sacrifice than to imagine the benefits of Viola’s, but if given adequate thought, it becomes clear that the death of Ruth May helps the other women in the Price family to realize Nathan Price’s destructive ways. The innocent people can feel too guilty to leave someone that needs them, when themselves are suffering loving someone they do not. Ethan wanted to move away from Starkfield, but Zeena did not want to live in a city where she would have no identity. Her hypochondria and her few legitimate illness serve as excuse for her to look in patent remedies and expensive visits to the doctors at a time when Ethan is struggling to pay off the heavy mortgage on the farm and still maintain financial debt. Ethan couldn’t get ahead and move by himself because all the money was being spent by Zeena.

Miro was just a cruel person, who has no conscious about his actions. Miro was a cruel person when he decided to chose his country over saving Artkin. He was a cruel person when he made kate believe that they were friends. As I read in the book, it stated that Miro had said he almost trusted a girl, he let his guard down , because he thought she was docile and helpless. He was being cruel when he had shot Kate because she distracting him by telling him Artkin was his father.

An additional theme that is presented in the book is how courage can help people face fears. People see this when Brian is on a plane and his pilot has a heart attack (page 26). Brian then has to fly the plane but he is frightened to do it. Brian has never flown a plane before, so he is petrified to do it. He is very courageous to face his fear of flying a plane.

How does one live a life as a Christian that honors and glorifies God? The answer is by reflecting Christ’s image by acting as He would in every situation. Because of what Jesus has done for sinners on the cross, they desire to live by His example in order to give Him glory. However, living a Christ-like life can only happen through the work of the Holy Spirit, who comes in to sinner’s hearts when they first put their trust in Jesus and the cross, growing them and making them more like Jesus. Many characters in books, stories, and movies have Christ-like qualities and characteristics, an example of this being Harper Lee’s masterpiece.
Sacrifice can reveal what people value the most in their life. In the book The Color Purple by Alice Walker, Celie sacrifices her childhood, her education, and her freedom for her sister Nettie. Celie’s sacrifices are not only representative of her value of Nettie, but also of the lack of value she has for herself. Throughout the book, Celie sacrifices the majority of what she has and gets extremely little in return. She never fights for herself and does whatever people ask her.

Despite having the trappings of a hard sci-fi adventure story, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is a deeply humanist and spiritual film exploring philosophical and emotional issues in a complex way (Dean, 2015). Central to this are the concepts of bravery and sacrifice: as Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and the rest of his crew take great risks and travel vast distances to save humanity from a dying Earth, the characters all display varying aspects of the human condition, especially related to these very big, complex ideas. In the exordium, the four scenarios are shown to be understandable reactions to Abraham’s situation. Nevertheless, they aren’t helpful in reaching beyond the ethical understanding of Abraham’s sacrifice. In a sense, the man in the story is unable to understand this story because of how he does not take into account the necessity of Abraham’s faith, which is beyond comprehension or rational thought. Kierkegaard was trying to attune himself in the story, wherein offering multiple perspectives summons a new understanding of Abraham’s experience and presents the emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual aspects that are manifested in taking on his experience. However, the accompanied analogy did provide some confusion for me.
