I would like to apply for the project manager position as advertised recently. I am aware that the project I would be managing is already 6 months in of its 2 year duration. I've been in similar circumstances before and I can do well under pressure of an approaching deadline. Currently I am working toward my Bachelors in Information technology from George Mason. During my time at Mason I have had my fair share of group projects. When it came to group projects, it was important to appoint someone that would not only do their part of the project but work as the project's manager as well. More often than not I would take up the leadership role in my group projects. In my experience as a group leader, when it comes to managing a project their a few things you have to take into consideration. When managing a project it's important to set up how the team will communicate with each other, both in a formal setting and an informal setting. I would figure out what would be the most effective way of communicating with the team that everyone could work with. having this communication would be important for sending the team important updates about the project and how it's going. Communication will only get you so far though, a project needs to have a leader overseeing things. As a leader I would have to make sure everyone is doing their part on the project and making sure everything proceeds as planned as well as make sure you're staying in the scope of the project. Leaders also have to make the tough calls when things aren't working out as well as you'd hope, like parts of the project you would have to cut out to finish on
