Creative Writing: An Incident At High Bridge

Late last night yet another incident has occurred at High Bridge. Joshua Mayhew was travelling late last night when he decided to take a shortcut across High Bridge Road by himself. Joshua states “I have no idea why I did. My family practically forbids me to drive over the bridge since it’s a death trap.” Before he was about to cross the bridge he said, he became distracted, and he believed he saw something in the river but when he looked back at the road something darted out in front of him, a deer or bobcat, maybe.Joshua swerved to miss it when he lost control and the car spun out across the bridge. He then explains “I must have hit my head on the steering wheel because I really don 't remember any part of the crash after that.”

A few years ago, a girl called Amelia ended up in the river just like Josh, but sadly she wasn 't as lucky. Not only did she not make it, it was her birthday. Amelia was at her 18th Birthday Party, hosted by her friends at High Bridge Road when she was pushed over the edge and no one tried or called for help.

Ruth, Joshua 's grandma calls herself a ghost hunter and her group 's main mission is to look out for unclaimed spirits and banish them. Some follow her, but others think she is just crazy. She believes that High bridge and that area, in particular, is supernaturally charged and strongly encourages everyone to stay away unless wanting to end up in the river. Ruth later states “We have been hunting a specific unclaimed ghost for years and I believe he is from High Bridge and is the main cause of these near incidents and deaths.”

Joshua 's family, Rebecca, Jeremiah, Joshua 's mum and dad and sister Jillian are just happy he is alive and breathing. They tell us it is just pure luck he is still alive. The family thanks everyone for all their support, they believe Joshua will be okay and out of the hospital in a
