In the book “the other was Moore” by Wes Moore. It talks about the story of two boys who had grown up with the same name and distinct features and both had similar childhoods. One had a father and he later on died while he was at the young age of 3. While Wes's father wasn't even in the picture. Although they had similar paths to growing up they both had different outcomes: one started as a troublemaker, and later on, became a soldier, a successful student, and a community leader later on in life. While the other Wes Moore in the story, later on, grows up to choose a life of crime and violence leading him to go to prison. And a reason for them choosing completely different paths could be from who they had looked up to. And how they tried to protect them from the dangers of drugs and violence that was common to where they were from. …show more content…
So she had decided to enroll him in a military academy after he had harmed his sister and her, and while Moore was at the academy, he had called her and she says. “Wes, you are not going anywhere until you give this place a try. I am so proud of you, and your father is proud of you, and we just want you to give this a shot. Too many people have sacrificed for you to be there.”.This is seen in chapter five page 81. Although Joyce Moore's mother had only called him for 5 minutes it helped him realize his past mistakes and think them through. Maybe if he didn't call his mother, all that pent-up frustration he had for her for sending him to military school would have changed his future for a much more different
