Crime Scene Case Report by Makenzi Schroeder At 9:45 am on August 14th, an emergency call was received from a concerned neighbor Doug Greene regarding Anna Garcia; a 38 year old female. EMT arrived at the scene at 9:56 am and they found Anna Garcia lying face down in the entry hallway. The EMT declared Anna Garcia dead at the scene. The people involved may include Doug Greene, Anna’s neighbor and ex-boyfriend, Alex Garcia, Anna’s former husband, Erica Piedmont, the new wife of Alex Garcia who was seen outside of Anna’s house the day before the death, and finally Lucy Leffingwell, Anna’s best friend and co-owner of a local bakery. Items of importance and that could be key pieces of evidence found at the crime scene include Anna Garcia’s body, …show more content…
The blood found was type B, so this could be either Anna or Alex Garcia’s blood sample, concluding that one of the two bled at the scene. The hair belonged Anna Garcia, as determined by examination through a microscope, and the shoeprint belonged to Anna, upon examination of the tread, which matched Anna’s tennis shoe. The autopsy report concluded the fingers and toenails had a blue/gray color- evidence of oxygen deprivation, vomit in the oral cavity, blunt trauma to head indicative of a fall against a solid object, and edema in the ankles was visible. There was also no evidence of alcohol or evidence of an OD, but there was trace amounts of acetylsalicylic acid present, also known as aspirin. The blood spatter indicates a fall against a solid object, such as the fallen desk. It indicates that the blood was not due to violence, because of the diameter of the blood. The DNA analysis concluded the DNA belonged to Anna Garcia, as it matched the sample found at the crime …show more content…
I think that it was a natural death because there was no concrete evidence found at the scene that could lead me to believe that Anna Garcia’s death was a homicide or a suicide. I came to this conclusion because the blood spatter analysis determined that due to that diameter and the appearance of the blood spatter, the blood was due to a nonviolent act, such as a fall. I conclude that it was indeed a fall that caused the bleeding because of the evidence found at the scene such as the fallen desk and lamp. I believe, as of now, that Anna Garcia died of sickle cell anemia. Evidence that has lead me to this conclusion are mainly found within the autopsy report. The findings in the autopsy include that the abdomen is distended, edema present in the ankles, generalized pallor, the aspirin present in Anna’s system, and that Anna Garcia was wearing a sweater, as spotted by her neighbor, Doug Greene. Swelling of the abdomen, swelling in the feet, pale skin, unexplained episodes of pain, and fever are all symptoms of a serious sickle cell anemia episode. Sickle cell anemia can cause a blockage of blood flow within blood vessels due to their unique shape. If the symptoms go untreated, it can lead to a potentially fatal stroke, which may have killed Anna
