Crime Victims In the year of 1979 our Texas Legislative passed the Crime Victims’ Compensation act, this started the Compensation to Victims of Crime Fund and the Crime Victims Compensation (CVC) program (web. Crime Victims’ Compensation). This allows victims to be able to join the program to retrieve financial help when a crime is commit to them if they are eligible. There are small requirements needed to be meet the victim or family of the victims are deciding to join the CVC program. Looking though YouTube to find a video about the policy in Texas there was only one that came up with the others being from a different state or it was one that applied to the United States. In a website called Crime Victims’ institute releases report on victimization in Texas that’s gives the rates of different crimes in Texas. On the website, it states that the rate of families looking for assistance in shelters or hotlines has decreased over the last 5 years and the reason why is unclear (N.A., 2017). In a video by AnnieAho it talks about how in Washington there program is lacking funds meaning that the office might shut down (Crime Victims Compensation Program- Annie Aho Reports, 2009).
