Criminal Defense Law
Background Information
A criminal defense lawyer stays by and defends their client in court when they have been accused of a crime or accuse someone else in a court. The purpose of the job is to defend people who have been accused of a crime and to make sure they do not serve any charges. Criminal Defense Lawyers represent clients in criminal and civil litigation and other legal proceedings, draw up legal documents, or manage or advise clients on legal transactions. Having mostly criminal clients, the criminal defense lawyer will gather evidence that supports their suspect and will increase the odds of the client not having any charges or even going to prison.

Starting with Preparatory Education, is highschool. Doing clubs such as mock trials will give a good mindset to the job. Before applying to a law school, students must have a four-year degree from an accredited institution. Some good preparatory course topics include criminology, sociology, psychology, and government. Having high grades throughout high school is a factor in getting accepted into law school. Next, is the Entrance Examination, which is the Law School Admission Test, also known as the LSAT which will determine whether students get into law school. Students study for months preparing for this test. Degree Requirements and Educational Requirements include property, legal research and writing, civil procedure, criminal law, torts, contracts, and constitutional law. During the first year, the second and third year of law school students can select classes focusing on the criminal process that will help students become a criminal defense lawyer. The Career path of a criminal defense lawyer will consist of a ladder. It's best to work for the state first, and later lawyers could make and own a private lawyer business and defend individual clients that will pay the lawyer instead of being paid by the state …show more content…
