A computer specialist is someone who is tech savvy. They enjoy investigating and analyzing technology. The job of a computer specialist can be very rewarding. They examine PDA’s, flash drives, tablets, cell phones and gaming consoles. Every piece of electronic technology is analyzed by a computer specialist. The job description is a balance between investigative, informative and technological skills. The evidence collected must be properly preserved so it will be accepted in court. They are required to write a report about their findings as well as how they analyzed the device. The report has to be well written and very descriptive. My primary source included an interview. I chose to interview my father. My father’s name is Marco Hume. He is plant superintendent at Attica Correctional Facility. He installed the electric gates, other devices and the tear gas devices. He has worked for Attica Correctional Facility for 34 years. He is also in charge of the disciplinary hearings. This is for the inmates who are being disciplined due to their behavior. I chose to interview my father because he works at a well-known prison and has a lot of knowledge about the criminal justice field. I am pursuing my degree because I look up to my father. I have learned so much over the years from him about the criminal justice field as a whole. I also like the benefits offered if you work for the state and the pay rate is great as well. My secondary source were researched online. I used Google to research what cybercrime technologist do, the jobs available in the field and the writing types used. Once the results came up, I reviewed the website and chose the ones that fit in to my paper. The websites I chose fit in with my research because they offered information about cybercrime technology. From the research I have conducted I have learned to expect long, staggered hours. I have also learned that the job will be stressful and I may see things that are disturbing. I will need to practice writing in APA format because I am used to MLA format. The career I am pursuing is going to be stressful and demanding however; it is also going to be very rewarding. Writing reports is going to be the most frequent type of writing I will be doing. The information I have learned solidified my decision on pursuing a career in the criminal justice field.
