My first crucial decision, my GCSE subjects, was where I developed an interest and curiosity towards the subject of Law and the Legal System, and, as I have become even keener and intrigued, I've made effort in keeping up with various legal stories, past and present. For example, the killing of Mark Duggan, triggering the London riots in 2011, and the recent ruling of 'lawful killing', caught my attention and made me question how that decision came about. As I'm drawn to the rocky relationship between crime and society I have decided to read both Law and Criminology, giving me a broad and thorough grasp of both perspectives. In Sociology, I have developed the ability to apply sociological theories to everyday situations, analysing articles and current events with perspective and reason and discuss explanations for them as well as the actions of people involved. We are currently focusing on crime and deviance, where we discuss topics such as the cause of crime, globalisation of crime in the media and the role of the justice system. I am able to link my knowledge from Psychology & Sociology with Biology to try to explain why people commit crimes. In Biology and Chemistry, I developed how I plan and carry out experiments, ensuring I collect valid and accurate data, and identify potential problems and any anomalies; which has also allowed me to work under controlled conditions, meaning I am capable of working under pressure and within time limits. From taking the Extended Project Qualification I have gained knowledge on how to conduct research and develop my planning skills. It has also given me the opportunity to undergo independent learning where I am able to meet deadlines and keep
