In today's world, it is assumed that the world will end with a bang: quite literally. The metaphorical doomsday clock is set two minutes to midnight, and the world waits for the press of a button that will change everything. However, there are darker, more sinister aspects that are obvious, and yet they are paid no heed. In the article "End of days: is Western civilization on the brink of collapse?" by Laura Spinney, it warns that,"Western culture is reaching a critical juncture." This is caused by problems that have affected the world for decades, if not centuries. One can do this by protesting malignant practices and contacting your state or county representative. If of voting age, placing a vote with an environmentally intelligent candidate can ensure that your vision is realized. An approach that is often overlooked is communicating your vision to the world, whether through social media or talking with people personally. In the book Black Elk Speaks, as told through John G Neihardt, it states the importance of sharing your vision. The character Black Elk has kept his vision secret and close to his heart ever since he was a little boy. However, a old medicine man tells him, "You must do your duty and perform this vision for your people on earth." After performing the vision, Black Elk's powers grow, and his people start to thrive. This shows the importance of sharing ones own vision. By writing or telling others of the importance of sustainable practices, and the importance of taking action, it is possible to make a change to the future and to the world of today while some people may say the world and the people in it are too stuck in their old ways for trying to convince them to make any difference, this is simply untrue. By putting ones vision for a brighter future out into the world, it can change people's minds. Perhaps it will not change many minds, but even a small difference in the way people think can go a long
