The successes of this policy include: limiting nuclear weapons, increase trade, traveling between the United States and China, avoiding nuclear war, and reduced cost for preparing weapons. The criticisms of this policy include: promoting the support of communism, secretly widening the conflict in the Southeast Asia, and created the illusion that the Russians had abandoned their quest for global domination. 2. One of Carter’s social policies was to make sure there were as much minorities and females in senior government positions as possible. Since no other administration had done as much as he did in that aspect, this boosted his standings with blacks and white liberals. He attempted to implement an economic policy where he would give out a $50 rebate to all tax payers. This was extremely unsuccessful because he never actually went through with it.
