“Effective informative speakers share accessible understable information in a compelling way,” (Fraleigh and Tuman 471). There are many aspects and skills that contribute into a well-rounded speech. In particular, an informative speech is a speech that requires many skills and methods in order for it to be delivered successfully. Likewise, it is important for the speaker to be knowledgeable of the topic and to ultimately be comfortable with it so that they can give their audience a better understanding of what they are trying to get across. Fraleigh and Tuman indicated, “To make the structure of your speech easy for audience members to follow, you need to insert organizing words, phrases and sentences throughout your presentation” (271). Authors Fraleigh and Tuman make a very good point, you do not want your audience to wonder where are in the speech. This will make it even harder to inform your audience of your topic. It would have helped Alexis significantly if she had used more effective transitions that could help her audience stay in track with the direction of her speech. There are many ways to help prevent this from recurring over and over again. One of them being to look up transitional words and phrases get familiar with them. Alexis had her speech clearly organized and she knew what she wanted to say. She stated her main points and went in depth and helped reduce jargon. The critique basically focused on Alexis' content, organization, delivery and other considerations. She did very well in many areas, those that need improvement are small flaws within her presentation. I highly advise her to look up transitional words and phrases as well as practicing her speech ahead of time so she can improve on having more eye contact with her crowd. As I said before, there are many skills and strategies that play an important role into a well driven speech. With enough practice and courage, those skills can be acquired from just about anyone if you have the determination and
