In The myth of Cronus,Cronus wanted all of the power and did not want to be overthrown by his kids. So Then , he wanted to make sure by deciding to eat them. Lastly, Metis gave Cronus a potion so he can vomit them up. Both the myth of Cronus and The Lightning Thief share a similar theme of Struggle for power.
In the myth of Cronus there is a prophecy that one of Cronus’ children will defeat him. He eats his children but the prophecy comes true when his wife, Rhea, tricks him. Zeus eventually overthrows him. In both myths characters who start out good end up doing bad things to friends and family for power. In the myth of Cronus he ate his kids to keep power.
In the poem called Works and Days, written by an ancient Greek poet Hesiod, a god named Prometheus gives mankind the gift of fire without the consent of Zeus. This infuriates Zeus, which results him to punish Prometheus by inflicting him with eternal pain. Not only did Zeus punish Prometheus, but he also penalized mankind. In Hesiod's poem, it mentions, "The price for the stolen fire will be a gift of evil to charm the hearts of all men as they hug their own doom" (45).
Odysseus (P.567) This story illustrates how a Greek leader by name Odysseus and his men entered the cave finding food and drink to help themselves with but happened that they fell asleep. And Cyclops, whose other name is Polyphemus, joined them in the cave, he lead his flock sheep in the cave and rolled out a big stone against the mouth of the case which was close to the entrance. Therefore, seeing Odysseus, and his men asleep in the cave, he became angry and grabbed two of the men, crushed them to the rocks and ate them, and later he fell asleep. Odysseus seeing that act of Cyclops couldn’t do anything since Cyclops was the only strongest people that rolled out the stone from the cave.

The myth is the story of Perseus, the son of Zeus and Danae. As a baby he and his mother were forced into a coffin by his grandfather, Acrisius, and were sent out into sea to perish. They didn 't drown, however, they floated to land until they were found by a king, Polydectes. The king fell in love with Perseus ' mother and wanted to wed her, her refused so she could spend time caring for her son. After Perseus had grown into a young man Polydectes sent him on a mission to kill Medusa in a hope it would bring Perseus ' death, the king thought that with her son gone the woman she loved would marry him.
In this myth Zeus goes down to Earth disguised as an old man and visits the temple Lycaeon. When Zeus enters the temple and makes his presence known the people in the temple start to pray but Lycaeon instead questions whether the old man is Zeus at all and planned to test him to find out the truth. Lycaeon’s first plan was to attack Zeus in his sleep and attempt to kill him, but he instead decided to kill and cook a hostage that was supposed to be under his protection and then feed him to Zeus. Zeus would see through this attempt to trick him, and he would then destroy the temple with his lightning. Lycaeon would then flee the temple into the woods where Zeus would punish him and turn him into a werewolf.

The theme is communicated in the myth because Rhea tries to save her child Zeus from her husband Cronus because a prophecy was told to him that one of his children would dethrone him so as soon as his children were born he swallowed them whole, knowing that the prophecy would come true. What cronus didn’t know was that Rhea was planning to save one of her children because she wasn’t going to let her husband devour all of her children because she wanted to have at least one child to cherish so she wrapped a stone in baby garments to imitate the baby she saved and gave it to her husband to swallow.
