The name of the country I am writing about is called Cuba. In the map cuba is located in North America. Cuba was founded in October 10, 1868, a very long time ago. The Cuban flag has five stripes of blue, white and a red triangle. The Cuban shield consist of The Cuban Coat of Arms and it is the official symbol of Cuba. The Cuba sheld look like an oak branch on one side in the shield, a laurel wreath on the other side of the shield and with a golden key on the top of the shield. The three features I am writing about is oak branch,laurel wreath and the golden key.

It is the circular wreath made of connected branches and leaves. In Ancient Greece wreaths were awarded to victors, both in athletic competitions, including the Ancient Olympics made of wild olive tree known as"kotinos”. In Rome laurel wreath were used as a symbols of martial victory.They were used to crown a victorious commanders during their triumph.
The golden key symbolizes Cuba's key location with the two Americas. This is where the name "The Key to the Gulf" comes from.The key shows that the Havana was the gateway to the New World of Spanish America.The key also symbolizes Cuba’s geographical position with a bright rising sun in the background. The golden key also symbolizes freedom of life and happiness to the Cuban people.
I have learned that the cuban people has a lot of interesting cultures that was shown in the shield. Culture is one of the most important thing that keeps the country together.These three symbols in the shield are so important because it meant to represent the rights of man, equality and liberty to the Cuban people. My favorite feature of the essay is the golden key because it showed freedom and happiness for the Cuban people. I have enjoyed learning about Cuban shield and what it meant for the Cuban people.I learned that Cuba is a great nation where people respect their cultures and live by it.
