Aspects of Venezuela’s Culture
Venezuela is a beautiful country located in the northern coast of South America. A long time ago, it was a destiny for immigrants from Europe and Africa. Venezuela is characterized by a diverse group of people who share some characteristics from their own culture: Tradition, language, family life and hospitality.
One aspect of the culture in Venezuela is tradition. The relevant tradition celebration is Christmas. Most of the people are catholic and they go to church each morning at five from December 16 to December 25. People in Venezuela celebrate Christmas on December 24, gathering with their families until midnight, having a big meal, listening to Gaita music, and exchanging presents. Children believe Jesus

Most of the people in this country have a lot of common slangs. In Maracaibo city, no matter the social class the people say, “Que molleja”, an expression used to exaggerate something either good or bad. For example, when someone wants toy say: what a beautiful building there is, they say, “Que Molleja de bonito ese edificio.” Another slang in Venezuela is pana. It can be as simple as saying "friend", or describing someone as "friendly." For example: He is my friend, they say, “El es mi pana.” Chevere is the most popular slang in Venezuela. It means nice or great. It is used in every kind of situations, food; movies; feel. For instance, if people ask, “How was your day?” they answer, “It was chevere.” On the other hand, besides the Spanish as the main language there are other languages like the Guayu, which is used by native people in the northwestern of Venezuela, however, most of the people have to learn Spanish in order to integrate to the society and find a …show more content…
