I don't agree with The Honourable David Lam in his article "Pulling Together" where he remarks that in Hong Kong, people are rude and loud, but in other parts of the world, like Canada, people don't accept that behaviour. I think that Canadian people are equally rude and loud as in Hong Kong. Just how important manners are? However in Canada, minimization of friction between people in Canada is verifiable. Compared to other countries where immigrants feel like they have to embrace the culture in order to become part of it; in Canada it’s the opposite.

Many people suppose that the Canadian society is diverse and problems such as discrimination and racism are not difficulties affecting this community. Canadians understand that they are characterized by diversity, tolerance, and acceptance and that these are the traits that virtually define the values of this nation. Although many people assert that the country is diverse, previous cases and literature have portrayed how the Canadian society is segregated and intolerant. The most disturbing elaboration of intolerance in the Canadian society was the Saskatoon starlight tours where law enforcement officers would pick aboriginals from their communities, and they were taken to the outskirts of the city in the dead of winter where they were left for dead.
I agree with Trudeau’s ideals of how national relationships should operate. In my view, it’s because some don’t prioritize interaction and being open with each other that our current society is plagued by a discriminative feature: stereotypes.
