Mexican Culture

In today's society, there are many cultures that influence many teenagers and my self-included to collect them as some part of their identity. People tend to pick out popular culture to pursue what they identify and relate to the most and feel more comfortable in that atmosphere. My parents are both from Mexico and are very involved with the Mexican culture. I was born in Los Angeles my mother wanted me to grow up in America instead of Mexico and from that moment she decided that she wanted me to be more American than Mexican. I began a journey of being Americanized instead of embracing my ethnicity. Mexican are hardworking generous, and kind people; they express their pride by working hard showing other ethnicities than they never give up and will struggle to chase their dreams. I grew up pushing my Mexican culture to the side because I didn’t really practice the culture r was fascinated too. Instead, I was Americanized my first language was English, I ate fast food instead of Mexican food I dressed more casual than the clothing in Mexico. I did practice the same religion like my parents but I never really got into it Catholicism. As a little kid my parents took me to many parties with Mexican music playing in the background and I never really enjoyed it like my parents did dancing around. But little by little as I was growing up I adjusted towards the Mexican culture and adapted the food, music, culture and the workmanship. Mexican culture taught me that my education came first, it also toughened me up when I started working and doing chores. My identity revolves around the Mexican culture because its what most has impacted my life. It showed me how never leave my family, work hard and pursue your education and to show your pride and where you came from.
In conclusion Basketball, Hip Pop Music, and Mexican culture are what I mostly identify with today's society. They all taught me a lesson and shaped me up who I am today. I am a hardworking advocate who never gives up in any situation, and doesn’t put up with social inequalities. When I associated with these cultures I found myself being more comfortable than in another. I never joined these cultures to be someone who I wasn’t nor to joint it because it what was popular, I joined it because its what I had most in common when trying to find my identity at such a young
