Have you ever wondered about the 1920’s culture? The “Roaring Twenties” was a very interesting decade. This essay is about the music , people , and the inventions of the 20’s. There were many events that happened in the 20’s that helped form our present day. This array``1` was known as the “Jazz Age”.
Music was a very popular thing in the 1920’s. In 1917, Buddy Bolden created the genre called “jazz”. Without Buddy Bolden jazz wouldn’t exist as a genre. Louis Armstrong was a jazz musician who played the trumpet. Louis Armstrong was probably really thankful for Buddy Bolden. Flappers were also very popular in the 20’s. The term “flapper”originated in Great Britain and a flapper is a female dancer that wears short skirts and short hair. A flapper dances to jazz.
One such flapper was the famous Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald. He wrote The Great Gatsby. There were many different types of people and many different types of jobs. Babe Ruth was a famous baseball player who played for the New York Yankees and was named the unofficial king of New York. Babe Ruth attracted many people to baseball because of his talent. There were many gangsters during the 20’s. Al Capone , known as Scarface , was a feared mafia boss in the 20’s because of his heinous crimes. After seeing a car wreck, Garrett Morgan made the Stop Light in 1923, which helps to make car wrecks less common. In the same year, 1923, John Harwood invented the automatic watch that helps users access time easier and quicker. Two years later, in 1925, John Baird created the TV, which allows the viewer to see things all over the world. Sunglasses were made by Sam Foster in 1929 to help protect your eyes from the sun (Alchin). All these things formed the 1920’s
