Lying is an unavoidable part of human nature and is ingrained at a very young age. It's common to think it is immoral to lie because it can negatively affect the trust people have with each other. That is until people justify their lie because it benefits them, whether to save themselves from some consequences, or spare someone's feelings. In the novel “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time” by Mark Haddon, a boy named Christopher unravels a mystery full of lies. Christopher has to acknowledge and understand the different types of lies and the consequences of what lying does to human relationships, and communication, motives. In chapter 123 “Father bent down on his knees near the bed and he said, “Chirstopher?” But I didn’t say anything. then he held up his right hand and spread his fingers out in a fan so that I could touch his fingers, but I didn’t because I was frightened.” and in chapter 233 it explains “Father came round to that night. and he said, “don’t scream, OK, Christopher. I’m not going to hurt you.” And mother was standing behind him so I didn’t scream.” In that same chapter it says “he said, “I wanted to ask you how the exam went.” But I didn;t say anything. The mother said, “Tell him, Christopher” But I still didn’t say anything.” These quotes explain how Christopher doesn’t want to communicate properly with his father and would rather stay quiet or scream. In chapter 233 Father comes up with a plan to build back a relationship with Christopher, “Chrisotper, can I have a talk with you?” And I said, “No.” And mother said, “It's OK. Ill be here.”... And Father said, “ill do you a deal.”... And then he said, “Let's call it... lets call it a project. A project we have to do
