'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' is a novel composed by Mark Haddon. It's written in the first person about a teenager named Christopher, who, when deciding to find out who murdered his neighbor's dog, uncovers secrets about his life which throw everything he once knew away. Set in Swindon, England, and London in 1997, the novel follows Christopher as he navigates his way around multiple problems and revelations, and shows how his autism both hinders and aids his course. When Christopher reaches his mother and when she learns of the lies Christopher has been told by his father, she sets out to become a better mother for him and decides that to do that, she must leave the new life that she created with Mr. Shears. Whilst Christopher is gone, Christopher's dad realizes the error of his ways and although he knows it will take time, he devises a system to get Christopher back into his life. Mrs. Shears, who has a fleeting relationship with Christopher's dad, cannot withstand the pressure of being with him and having to care for Christopher, and although they once leaned on each other, she severs the connection with Christopher's dad despite it's potential to lead her to happiness, showing that not everyone can change just because they have a goal. As long as the person has the correct motive and the result is important to them, all people are capable of change if they have a goal and 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' highlights this
