Curley was mentioned in Chapter 2. Curley is always trying to pick fights with anyone because he wants to be the tough guy. Curley picked a fight with lennie and he threw a punch at lennie and he caught his hand and squeezed it as hard as he can, and curley was out for boxing because lennie messed up his hand bad. They made a lie to the boss about curley saying that he got his hand caught in the machine so lennie won’t get in trouble.
Curley is a small man but he acts big and tough. One day in the bunkhouse Curley gets mad at some of the guys and they start talking back to him. Lennie is in the corner laughing and Curley thinks Lennie is laughing at him so he starts hitting Lennie. Lennie doesn’t fight back till George tells him to so Lennie grabs Curley’s hand and breaks it. To keep Lennie and George from being fired and to keep Curley’s look up they decided to say that his hand got caught in a machine.
Getting the Blame When Not Due Is it right to blame anyone for their own death on themselves when they were murdered for doing nothing wrong? In society it is natural to judge someone when you first meet them, and sometimes it leads them to misperception. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck talks about George and Lennie, their journey through the Great Depression. The start of the book talks about how George and Lennie move from farm to farm looking for work and they find a new farm. At this farm they befriend a few of the workers there, but they all misperceive Lennie right away and see him as this weakling that cannot do anything really serious. Since in the end Lennie ends up killing Curley’s wife and no one expected it since he comes off more childish.
Many books possess an evil character, a villain, however the villain normally helps to improve the story and create a depth to the plot. In the work Of Mice and Men, the author John Steinbeck uses the character Curley to show that violence is never the answer. When introduced to anyone new, Curley has to threaten them, because he needs to showcase his role of leadership in the group. However if he showed them kindness instead, people wouldn’t see him as an angry person. For example, Candy warns George to distance himself from Curley, because he has a nasty temper and loves beating up big guys because he is not big.
Curley used this as an excuse to kill Lennie. He really wanted to kill Lennie because he destroyed his hand though. Curley said he was going to blow Lennie's guts out and make him suffer and be in pain. George prevented this by shooting Lennie in the back of the head and ending him quickly. George killed lennie because if he didn’t, Curley would have made him suffer.
¨Ain I got a right to talk to nobody…?¨ This is a line directly said from Curly’s wife in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Steinbeck introduced Curly’s wife as a tart, eyeing men up and down, while married, and always finding herself in the men’s cabin area. He also introduces her as a lonely average wife during the 1900s, having nothing to look forward too. Steinbeck gives information about what women felt like during these tough times, especially how lonely they were, and how they couldn’t follow their own dreams.
Humans are a genuinely perplexing and baffling species. Someone may glance at a person and think they may be incredible, but associate with them and one may discover the person is atrocious. In the book Of Mice and Men, Curley is approached as the calamity of the ranch. He is analyzed as a racist, mean, and sexist man.
Odyssey one= In the story Odyssey the main character is Odysseus whom, in the begin of the story goes into a big battle with his army which took 5 years to finish, and when they won the long war they started to return to their homeland. But on the way to his homeland, Odysseus and his People went on an island and when Odysseus and his people went onto this island which was full of Cyclops. Cyclops are creatures that have one eye and are large in size also, But Odysseus didn’t know until him and his men went into a cave that was Polyphemus’s cave a, Cyclops, that owned that cave that they were in taking shelter in.
Curley is furious when he finds his wife dead at the hands of Lennie. He decides to hunt Lennie down and murder him in cold blood. When asked if he would like to stay back with his wife and grieve, he says, “‘I’m goin,’ ... ‘I’m gonna shoot the guts outta that big bastard myself, even if I only got one hand’” (98). Even
Hands exist as an underlying symbol in Steinbeck's novel Of Mice and Men. Maybe the most powerful picture of hands accompanies connection to Curley. Curley's hands have double significance. One hand, the one without the glove, is intended to symbolize strength. Curley is exceptionally open about his battling capacity and it is even talked about among the ranch hands.
