Suffering-can describe a person who is filled with sorrow and sadness.This is very much true for some of the characters of John Steinbeck's of mice and men.Although suffering can be found in all of the character in of mice and men, one persons suffering stands out the most.The character in John Steinbeck's, of mice and men who suffers the most would be curlys wife.

Also there is how the guys think about all the trouble the would get into if curlys wife would be around them.This first started when she came into the bunkhouse for the first time in the book and asked about curly.The guys said curly was there but he just left a few minutes before she got there.Then she starts to make small talk but gets stopped by George saying "well he aint now"(31) when she tried explaining that curly is sometimes in the bunkhouse.After she left, the guys started to talk about her and Lennie said she was pretty but George replied by saying that she was jail bait and a rat trap who would cause trouble if you mess around with her.Then later on when slim and George are talking in the bunkhouse, they start talking about how curlys wife is always showing up around guys looking for curly or something eles.This makes them think that she cant stay away from other guys and how she is "jail bait all set on the trigger"(51) which is to show how much of a mess she can make.A few moments later curly comes in looking his wife but sees that slim is not their and decides to ask George about him.George tells him that slim left for the barn a few minutes ago which makes curly vanish quickly to the barn with loud slam behind him.This makes the other guys believe that curly thinks that slim is with his wife and that curlys wife would be the cause of the argument.Although none of this impacts curlys wife directly it still brings hatred towards her which cause her to suffer
