Curriculum Night Review: The John Glenn College Of Public Affairs

The John Glenn College of Public Affairs held a curriculum night the evening the March 4, 2016. The purpose of this night was to introduce the college’s brand new Bachelor of Science degree in Public Policy Analysis and expose revisions for their Bachelor of Arts, now in Public Management, Leadership, and Policy. The Glenn College’s Undergraduate curriculum team has been hard at work for about a year now, modifying the B.A.’s new title and curriculum along with a whole new curriculum for the college’s B.S. degree. When asked why revisions were made to the B.A. degree, the committee reassured the audience the changes are beneficial. Employers were surveyed by the Glenn College and carrier market trends were analyzed while making these adjustments to the curriculum. “[The new name] is also to serve the workforce as well, so when you go out the workforce it will be more descriptive of the coursework put together for your degree”, explained Dr. Wagner. degree comes with new requirements including, Public Affairs 3500: Public Management, one of either Public Affairs 4310, Economics 4300, or Economics 4320. You will also be required to take one additional 4000+ Public Affairs course; meaning Public Affairs 4010 will no longer be a specified requirement. These changes will go live beginning fall 2016 semester. However, those graduating Spring 2016 or later will essentially be grandfathered into the new degree requirements and title. “Your graduation will not be delayed because of these changes.
