There have been rapid developments in the field of Information and Communication Technology for the last few years. As a result of this, people have begun to widely use means of modern technologies such as cell phones and social networking in order to communicate. At first glance, this might seem to be an advantage since people meet their needs for communication effectively, but it may affect their lives in a negative way as well. It can easily be stated that people may be subjected to some unfavorable circumstances on the net. Depression caused by cyber-bullying on social media came in as the second highest psychological effect in 2016 (bullyingstatistics.org). Statistics show that persons who were bullied or are being bullied struggle with depression in their life. Depression caused by cyberbullying on social media may also lead to low self-esteem (Sherri Gordon 2015). Most if not all victims of cyberbullying on social media have low self-esteem. Once one’s self esteem is broken it’s hard to rebuild and usually one’s self-esteem is usually the first to take a hit after cyberbullying. The psychological effect of cyberbullying on social media may even have a deadly effect because it may lead to suicide.
