Take Time to Be A Dad Visual Analysis Often, parents “neglect” their children by not applying themselves like a parent should; this is done intentionally and accidentally. For decades, PSA (Public Service Announcement) has been informing and helping parents realize this issue, such as the jingle from the 80s that sang “have you hugged your kid today…” “According to an Ad Council survey, 86% of dads spend more time with their children today than their own fathers did with them” proving that PSA about parent and child relationships have made a significant difference over the years (National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse). The purpose of this PSA is to inform and help parents; and to help their children as well. Many parents often lose focus on what is truly important when they are stressed, overworked, etc. This makes it difficult for parents to organize their time properly or give their kids the amount attention that they deserve, “According to an Ad Council survey,… a majority of dads (7 out of 10) also reported that they could use tips on how to be a better parent” (National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse). This PSA is also urgent for children and their overall wellbeing. According to Levere’s article, “the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse has found that children who live without their biological fathers are, on average, two to three times more likely to have educational and health problems, be victims of child abuse and engage in criminal behavior than peeps who live with their married biological or adoptive parents.” If majority of parents believe that American is in a “father absence crisis,” (Levere) then this makes this PSA purpose even more crucial for our youth to help prevent damage for their
