The world is a scary place with many terrors; humans are these terrors with the destruction they cause. There are a few great men who changed that. The Dalai Lama once said, “The true hero is the one who conquers his own anger and hatred” (Dalai Lama quotes 2015). Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcom X were great freedom fighters; although they died in great violence. Unlike the 14th Dalai Lama who has fought for peace and is still alive today, he has had a life led by peace. Throughout time man has wanted to solve problems with violence, but man soon realized that violence is not always the answer. Another terror that humans face is a world afflicted with violence, even though great men have given their lives to find peace. The Dalai Lama has said, “Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible” (Dalai Lama Quotes 2015). This is something that everyone should live to heart. The Geneva World health organization said that, “Violence causes more than 1.6 million deaths worldwide every year” (Geneva 2014). In Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s most recent article, he stated that gun violence is an epidemic. “When he started to analyze the patterns of violence, he found two extraordinary things. One, it was predictable. Two, violence behaved like a contagion, spreading from person to person, just like the flu” (Gupta 2015).
